8 Week Writing Workshop with Granta

Date: 22 September 2025
All-day event
Location: Online

Date: Begins 22 September 2025

Time: Mostly to suit

Very excited to be tutoring Granta’s Writing Nature Workshop, particularly as I remember reading, on repeat (serial-borrowed from the library I worked in) Granta Magazine’s now-famed issue Granta 102: The New Nature Writing in 2008.

Rewilding Language challenges and asks, what is the role of the nature writer today? We’ll examine the roots and possibilities of nature writing in its broadest sense. We’ll ask how nature writing from the past can help us face an environment in crisis, and how we can approach the world with wonder even as we write with grief, anger and hope.

Over eight weeks, you’ll develop a 3,000-word piece of nature writing. Through a combination of lectures, podcasts, short written assignments, guest talks and group Zooms, we’ll trace the evolution of the genre from pastoral traditions to poetic memoirs, and draw out tools for our own writing practices. Our Course Director is Author, and Founder of Willowherb Review, Jessica J.Lee. Applications for this course close Monday 8 September 2025.

I’m on Wednesday, 8th October, with a Wild Writing Workshop in the afternoon (find your farming ghosts – with coffee and famous FarmEDcake!) followed by an evening ‘in conversation’ with FarmED’s Agricultural Lead, Kate Henderson, which I’m really looking forward to.
