Welcome to my lovely new website, designed and built exactly – nay, far more beautifully, than I imagined, by the very lovely Nick at HandPressed. Nick has worked through my ideas with great intuition and been so clear and supportive that it’s been a happy and exciting process. I knew Nick had made beautiful websites for writers I love and admire (Melissa Harrison and Rebecca Smith for example) and I also knew that their websites had been made with great care, and that Nick prioritises sustainability in his work, which means a big deal to me, too. Thank you Nick! I’m still tweaking and adding things, so do bear with me. Oh, and Nick will also help out with website stuff in return for ‘buying him a coffee.’ I’d recommend buying him several, because he’s very lovely and generous.
There is a new blog, An Ecology of Love & Ruin, and a new book coming September 30th, called Ghosts of the Farm, Two Women’s Journeys Through Time, Land & Community and I think it’s the best thing I’ve written yet – I’m very excited to tell the story of some incredible women, and a little more of my own rural life here and as a cowgirl in Canada in the late 1980s. On trend, apparently.
Look out for news NEXT WEEK on a 20% pre-order offer on Ghosts of the Farm, and if you want to know who I’ve riled this week, talking about the land, check out my latest Guardian Country Diary here, and do read the comments section!
Thank you for reading!
Nicola.
